The 2008 presidential election was notable in that it was the first
time that many tools including social media and mobile devices were
used en-masse to provide first-hand documentation of the election
process. David Troy
served as CTO of the Twitter Vote Report project, which enabled
citizens to report on the election using Twitter hashtags, SMS, VoIP,
and an iPhone and Android app. The effort was put together over the
course of about 3 weeks using all volunteer labor. David
also was CTO for the Inauguration Report '09 project, which helped
create first hand documentation of people's experience at the 2009
presidential election.
